The drawing room was turned ou' for dancing, and numerous games .vere indulged in A dainty supper was tastefully arranged in the dining room,, and' a most enjoyable time all the children had. Mr Shasrp wore -a pretty silk blouse and dark skirt, and the Misses Dorothy and Marjorie Sharp wore pretty white silk frocks relieved with coloured sashes. Last Thursday evening Mrs Northcroft gave a most enjoyable children's dance in the Oiraaige Hall, in honour of her daughter • Miss Muriel. Quite a large number of small children were present on this occasion, and dancing was much, enjoyed. A lovely supper was arranged on the stage, and I need hardly add a most happy time was the result. Miss Muriel Northoroft looked chairming in a pretty white silk dress, and nearly all the other girls wore white dresses relieved with coloured sashes. The engagement is announced of Mr Laurie Grace, second son' of Rev. Archdeacon Grace, to Miss Dolly Hair, of Nelson. Hon. O. H. Mills (Wellington), who Eas been visiting Blenheim, has returned. Miss Eugene Goulter (Tinnaa-a) is visiting Australia. Dr" E. Trecelyan Rogers, son of Mi A. Rogers, of "Eltham Lodge," who recently went Home, has accepted the position of locum tenesms for a practitioner in Surrey. Mr A. Adams, "Tangley Dale," is on a visit to Nelson. Mrs R. Datnpier Atkinson, "Corea," accompanied by her daughter Miss Ethel, has been spending a few days at the Club Hotel. Miss E. Mias E. -Hall is spending a few days with Mrs Pinckney at Richmond Brook. WELLINGTON, October 23. A very large reception* was given by the Hon. George and Mrs at the Hotel Windsor on Thursday afternoon in honour of Sir Albart and Lady Spicer. The guests wer. received at the entrance to the large dining room, at the end of which a band played most gaily all the afternoon. Mrs Fowlds received in a handsome gowin of black taffetas relieved with lace and a large black hat trimmed with feathers. Lady j Spicer 1 & prince* gown was of black fatin ch&rmeuse with yoke and sleeves of spotted net finished with " handsome embroideries.
