CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DELEGATES.
ROTORUA, October 21. The Chamber ol Commerce delegates visited \Yhakarev/:uewa this morning. The Wairoa Geysor gave a splendid exhibition, and played for 10 minutes. The fiibt shot was lully 100 ft in height, and the visitois were greatly pleased. The ceremony of opening the Native carved house was most inceref-tiug. The chiefs extended a welcome to the -visiting delegates. The Ron. T. Mackenzie (Minister of the Tourist Department) L hanked the Maoris ior the opportunity of bein^ piesent at the opening. Mr Da\is, delegate from London, on behalf of the delegates, expressed their p'eature at being present at so impoitant a ceiemony. The visitors inspected the thermal action at Whakareuarewa, and expressed surprise at the wonders? of this part of the Dominion. Heavy rain fell through the day. jnd greatly marred the proceedings. * The Maoris were very enthiiM«i=lic in their welcome, notwithstanding that thp wc.ith.er conditions were unfavourable. In the afternoon the delegales were the guests of the Chamber of Commerce at Terunanga Sanatorium erround, and a very pleasant time was t>pent. Speeches were made by the president of the Chamber of Commerce and by the visiting delegates — Messrs Davis (London), Riseley. and others, — also by the Hon. T. Mackenzie (Minister of the Tourist Department). The visiting delegates were taken throuah the new bath l.uildino.s by Dr Wohlmann. To-morrow the delegates go on the round trips, including Waimanccu. Last night they attended a Maoi? entertainment in the Assembly Hall. To-night there will be nil entertainment at the Maori Mission Hall at Ohinemutu. The weather is vei v bad. the heavy rain which fell throughout the day st'll continuing.
