NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.
A meeting of the- council of the NewZealand Bowling Association was held on the 19th, and was attended by Messrs J. M. Gallaway (chairman), G. Crow, J. H. Hancock, J. Taylor, 0. Balk, J. J. Marlow, C. Speight, W. WaddeJl, and H. F, M. Mercer (secretary)A copy of the Waikouaiti Club rules, forwarded by the North Otago Centre, was referred to the president and secretary for their perusal^ with power -to act. The Southland Centre wrote formally approving- of the suggested amendment! of the rules relating to the eleotion of the council. — Received. The Secretary of the North Otago Centre wrote tnat it agreed to the suggested alteration in the constitution and the method of electing the council. Thecentre thought that, with regard to chamj pionships, the council should at one© provide for a champion shield out of the present funds and for annual prizes for winners. — Received. Messrs Hancock, Taylor, and Speight, tho chairman, and the bowl-tester were appointed to examine the excelite bowls, and, if they approved of them, to grant permission that they be ueed for one year. An invitation from the Auckland Bowling Association to a team representing the New Zealand Bowling Association to visiD I Auckland was referred to the affiliated ! centres. The Secretary of the New South Wales Bowling Association wrote stating that the following resolution had been carried : '• That for the purpose of definition of the laws of the game it is hereby defined that tho outside wall of the ditch is the bank." — Received. Tho Secretary of the Taieri Bowling Club worte tha>t his club preferred to hold the- snuff mull trophy unt'l some satisfactory arrangement was made for tine resuscitation of the competition. The club expected that previous wine would not be lo3t sight of. — The" council decided, as the conditions are now changed, to start d» novo, and it was agreed that the Taieri Club hold the trophy until arrangements have been made for the government of the competition;" clubs to be asked to frame suggested rules -accordingly. It was resolved that the council's next meeting be he-Id in the Dunedin Bowling Club's pavilion.
