Dam MAGGIE M'CORMICK, sire Lord Salisbury (imp.) ; g-dam Miss M'Cormick I, sire Sir William Wallace ; g-g-dam Miss M'Corniick, sire Lincolnshire Hero. Shepherd Lad is a bay horse, bred by Walter Blaikie, Esq., Rjal Bush, Southland, with plenty of bone and hair of the right quality. He is the winner of a great number of prizes, having been champion horse of Southland for several years. His stock proves him to be absolutely the best breeding horse 111 the Dominion, as he is the sire of Nelly Gray, champion mare ' of Southland, Daisy Bell, champion last year at both Oamaru and Dunedin shows; Queen Agr>, champion mare of the North Island; also Aparima Fancy, and scores of others. SHEPHERD LAD'S sire, Herd Laddie, imported from Scotland to Victoria, and thence to New Zealand, proved himself, both in Victoria and New Zealand, one of the best breeding horses ever imported. Shepherd Lad's dam, Mag-gie M'Cormick, was a champion show-yard mare, only being beaten by her daughter, Queen, a half- , sister to Shepherd Lad. Maggie M'Cormick and Queen were sold to the late Mr Walter, of Victoria, and Queen, after several times winning the Championship of Victoria, was generally admitted to be the best stamp of a Clydesdale mare seen south of the line. At the late Mr Waiter's dispersal sale on March 23, 1904, Magpie M'Cormick, the dam of Shepherd Lad, then in her sixteenth year, brought 250 guineas, and her yearling filly 230 guineas. SHEPHERD LAD is a very sure foalgetter. He will only serve a limited num- [ ber of mares, so early application is necessary.
