PLENTY OF MONEY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, September 29.

j Some few months ago it was mentioned at a meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board that it would not be advisable just then to ask London to advance any considerable portion of the million loan which t lie boiird was authorised to raise. The impression loft on the Hon. T. K. JMacDonald during his recent visit to England does not tally with that view. " I lia<l a number of interviews with some of the leading bankers and brokers," he remarked to-day, " and I found that money was in an extremoly elastic condition. If tho Wellington Harbour Board wanted a ' million of money it could get that sum, without difficulty. I also gathered enough to show me that the New Zealand Government need not have the slightest difficulty whatever in getting money in Lon- : don on reasonable conditions. I am satis- [ hed that Sir Joseph Ward could have obtained whatever money was required to aid the finances of New Zealand. When I wa* in Australia," continued Mr Mac Donald, " I heard a lot of talk about New Zealand, and listened to a vast amount of stupidity and misconception of this country's financial position and resources." The speakers, he added, in answer to a question, were New Zealanders. He had heard that some two millions of New Zealand money were to be invested in Australia. If this statement was true, he commented, it would point to the need of "a careful review of land legislation and taxation, proposals and future financial operations."

A third class male passenger who joined the Ruapehu at Capetown has been' prohibited from landing at Wellington, as he is suffering from coneumotion.
