CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. AUCKLAND, October 1.
At the PoUoe Court to-day Daniel Ryan, who had been three times previously convicted of cruelty to animals, the last time by Mr Cutten for slitting pi.es' ears, made his appearance on a similar* charge again to-day It was stated by Mr Schnau&r, who appeared for the prosecution, that the man was simply defying the magistrate's dseasion. A fine of £5, and £2 lls 6d in costs, was imposed.
