October 4 — The fin* spring weather of jtaifrust has been continued throughout September. Many of the- days were exceedfbgly pleasant, muoh too pleasant to be Bpont indoors. markable absence of anything like high winds — 23 of the 33 days were calm. Feed. — Nature has made the most of the good weather, and almost all trace of winter has vanished. G.rass has K>me on remarkably quickly, and soon there will be plenty of that class of feed for the cattle. Farm Work. — Farming operations are hurrying op apace. The rain of last veek, though doing a great deal of jood, wet prepared gi-ound and hindered potatoplanting for a few days. The sun, how; ever, is now sufficiently Strong to dry up a rainfall very speedily. The roads aTe begining to ta-ke on their summer appearance, and all mud has disappeared until r.ext winter. - Angling.— To-day has been the opening of th 6 fishing season. As usual it has been looked forward to by local anglers, though very few turned out to sample the stream. Tha stream is, perhaps, rather much fished to offer any inducement to visitors, consequently they are not often met with.
