CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Charitable Aid Board, held on Aug. 24, wae attended by Messro J. H. Walter (chairman), H. L. Tapley, C. E. Keast, W. T. Talboys, W. Wilkinson, F. Anderson, W. T M'Farlane,- J. Mill, W. Nicol, W. Blackie, T. Aitlo&n, D. M. Philip, H. M. Driver and W. E. S Knight. REPORTS The matron of tfof» Maternity Hospital, * Fortli street, reported that 11 persona had been admitted during the period ended August IK. Seven babies had been born, making a total or 230 sinca the Hospital was open. The Hon. D. Buddo, Mesas James Allen, and J. F. Arrfold. M.P.a, the chairman and members of the Charitable Aid Board, had visited the Hospital on July 30.— Adopted. HOSPITAL BOARD The meeting then sat as a pcspital Board. The Finance Committee reported that the receipts for July * were : — Hospital £2416 2s Id, Fever' Hospital J0645 3e. The ' Hospital bank book showed a credit balance of £348 Is 2d, tKe Tever Hospital a credit balance of £1358 14s Bd, and the Sanitorium a cLebit balance of £385 7s 2d. Palmerston Sanatorium. — The committee had engaged the se -vices of two men to look after the place. a«-d clear «ome cf the | timber, and rhe house property had been insured for £300. They had gone through the plains of arranging the quarters for patients and additions to the buildings with the architect and now submit the E&me for th-s board s approvaj. Rock and Pillar Sanatorium. — Several changes having occurred through the members of the staff leaving, the committee had arranged to fill their places so as not to affect the working- of the institution. Fever Hospital. — The committee had accepted a tender from Messrs Turnbull and Jones for £67 15s for lighting with electricity, which would confer a great boon to the Hospital. RESIGNATION. Dr Collier, visiiing medical officer to the Sanitorium at Rock and Pillar, telegraphed :—": — " Appointed Clinton practice, resigning here:" The Chairman said the board would be sorry to lose the services of Dr Collier, which had pio^ed of great value. — The resignation was accepted with regret ; the Finance Committee to make arrangements for the appointment of a successor to Dr Collier, when a letter from that lady should odiiie to hand. There seems to he no scarcity of boys in Wellington just now, as was shown by an advertiseme-nt inserted by a businees man in th« Post. One office boy was required, and over 50 applied for the position. A similar vacancy in the same firm three years ago attraoted only three aspiranta for the position.
