ALLEGED BOGUS MARRIAGE
THE GISBORNB CASE. j GISBORNE, August 30. j In the Magistrate's Court a nonsuit was entered in the case in which Elsie Lindergreen sued N. Burgess, boarding-house , keeper, for £45 for wages as a domestic servant. Plaintiff, in her evidence, stated j that she had gone through the marriage j ceremony with defendant at Wellincrton, | performed by a man who was stated to j be "Dr Henry," from a Registry Office, i and she came to Gisborne with him as his j wife, but subsequently learned that the ceremony was bogus. The defendant j denied that such a ceremony had taken I place- In applying for a nonsuit, plainI tiff's solicitor said he had obtained other | evidence.
