FOR SENIORS AND JUNIORS.
(Conducted by Magistek, to whom all communications must bs addressed.) UNIVERSITY EXTENSION LECTURES, Several times in these columns I have mad© reference to lectures given in England and elsewhere by university professors or by men having expert knowledge of somo side of Nature etlidy who, though not on -a university staff, h«,ve given kctures under the atK.pices"cf some university. I eae by tho Melbourne Argus .that the University Extension Bo»,rd in Victoria has just arranged for two courses of lectures, one on the '• Literature of Revolt and Reconstruction," and the other'on tho "Birds of victoria." The latter is to te a series of 12 by Mr D. L.3 Souef. director cf the Zoological Gardens, and the eeries is to be illustrated by a unique s-at of lantern slides, while birds themselves will ba-shown by means of the " new projector," wihai--ever this, optical instrument is. Cannot something of the sam-j kind b» dors-3 here? I near that there is ,a possibility of a set cf popal-ax lectures being delivered next yea.r by one of our UniveTsity professors, but nothing definite -2ias teea aiT-anged, vand, in any case, the set will not form — as far as present prospects go, .at any rate — one of any worfood-out plan, nor will it be und<er the auspices cf the University. Who will move in the matter?
