CHESS ITEMS.
A chess match by telegraph, 12 a-side, l>etween .the Otago and Oamaru Chess Clubs has .been fixed for - the evenings of July 10 and 17. Crane, jun., of the Sydney Morning Herald staff, who was, in Dunodin as judge of all breeds of dogs at the Fancier Club's recent show, on two occasions won the chesa championship of Australia. Mr Crane played several games with local experts while in Duaedin, -and fully upheld his reputation. At the Eaaendon Chess Club, Australia-, two children of a Mr Graupner recently treated the members of that club to an exhibition game. The youngsters were seven and siz years old, a girl and boy reepec< lively.
