The' following appropriations for expen\ diture on railway works have been pa&.-ed by" the Cabinet: — Stratford-Ongaruhe, £7000 ; Helensvijle-Northward. £4000 ; Kawakawa-Grahamstown. £3000 ; West-pbrt-Inangahua, £2000 : Rivemla!e« Switeers. £1200; Orepuk'i-Waiau, £600; Catlins River, £4500. Whitebait have made their -appearance in the Manawatu River. On Wednesday, 23rcJ inst., a Foxton fisherman netted about tw» quarts of them. - '
