DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.

Messrs Wxisrht, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows: — There was a rather mixed entry of horses for our s<v!e on Saturday, very few of which were worthy of being specialty mentioned. There were several buyers present on the outlook for heavy draughts for town work, also a few farmeie in quest of good plough, mares and gildings. Very few of the draughts forward were of exceptional merit, our highest price for the day being obtained for a six-year-old geiding, which changed hands at £37. Another gilding found a jaew owner at £36, and several others .were sold at full, market rates. Springearters were a rather poor iot. and, as usual with inferior sorts in this class they were difficult to quit. Considering the quality of the stock forward, we had a very fair 6ale, and if the right kind of ihorses had been in the yard much mora could have been done. Sound young horses <>f all classes are selling very well in Dunedin at the present time, and we would specially recommend consignments of ijraughts and spring-carters. We quote: Superior young draught geldings, at from £40 to £45 ; extra good ditto " (prizewinners) •at from £45 to £50 ; superior young draught mares, at from £50 to £60 ; medium draught mares and geldings, at from £30 to £40; aged, at from £10 to JB15 ; strong spring-van horses, at from £25 ijj £30; strong spring-cariers, at from £18 to £25; milk-cart and butchers' order cart liprees, at from £15 to £25; light hacks, \i from £8 to £13; extra go:id hacks and harness horses, at from £13 to £25 ; weedy jmd agod, at from £5 to £7. OTAGO FARMERS' !E[QRSE BAZAAR. .The Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association report: — For our sale on Saturday the entry was scarcely as large as usual. flPhirty-eight horses altogether were offered, out the duality and stamp of a number of fcw&o forward was well above the average. All our country consignments, which camo from as far soutih as Obautau. sold under • the hammer at good values. The attend-

ance of town and .country buyers was particularly good, and as a number of our clients were present in quo3t of good working horses, the demand for all suitable animals was keen, and some good prices wera obtained. We had buyers present from Canterbury and North and Central Otago, and were able to supply their requirements with good horses straight from farm work. We offered several particularly nice vannei's and spring-carters on behalf of country clients, and for these good prices weie obtained. We also submitted a number of first-class upstanding harness horses and hackneys, as well as several trotting-bred liors93, competition for the latter being been. One promising gelding by Lauderdade, although he had never been on the track, realised £39. week we expect to have a superior lot of station horses to offer.
