LONDON. June 15. The total quantity 'cf wheat and fiour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,285,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,765, 0C0 quarters. The Atlantic shipments were 139,000 quarters. Tho waeat cargoes are firm, and from 45a to ion 3d is asked for near Australian arrhius, _J.4s for distant arrivals, and the ium of 44s has been paid for a parcel of 1000 .quarters and 44a 6d for a cargo. June 17. The- American visible supply of wheat is 25,327,000 bushels. June 18. The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be £38,226,000; reserve, £29,262,000; proportion of reserve to- liabilities, 50.65. The notes in circulation total £29,065,000; public deposits, £12,971,000; other deposits, £44,756,C00; Government securities, £15,369,000 ; and other securities, £30,792,000. The bank rate of discount ;s; s 2£ per cent. Short loans are discounted at 1^ per cent., and three months' bills as follows: — London, 1|- psr cent.; Paris, 1| pea- cent. ; Berlin, o\ per cent. Wheat: The continued demand for cargoes is keeping the markets steady, though the undertone is not very strong. Three cargoes of Australian sold at 44s l£d, 44s 9d, and 45s respectively. Australian spot, 47s to 47s 6d. The first which arrived from New Zealand ex Corinthic is selling at 43s to 43s 6d c.i.f. Flour is steady. At London Australian is selling at 32s 6d to 33s 6d in store. The Glasgow market is easier, owing to heavy arrivals offering. Quotations : 32& 6d to 32s 9d landed. Oats : La Plata, June and July shipment, 17s 10id. The butter market is quiet and unchanged. Australian is unsettled at 100s. Cheese is easier. New Zealand, 62s to 635. Some which came by the Corinthic was overheated, and consignees are claiming an allowance. The Bradford wool market is firm, and prices are unchanged. At the sheepskin sales 8000 bundles were offered. There was good competition, and a full attendance. Prices of most descriptions were in sellers' favour. Fine medium crossbreds suitable for America | advanced fully but half-woolled merinos declined £d. ] June 20. Australian — Sheep, heavy 2 3-16 d, light 2 7-16 d ; lambs, test brands, 3 5-16 d: beef, unchanged. River Plate — Sheep, heavy 2id, light 2fd ; beef, fores, 2Jd, hinds 4id.
