ACTION AGAINST ARMY COUNCIL

LONDON, June 17. The Court of Appeal dismissed Lieutenant Woods's action claiming £7500 damages from the Army Council for his unlawful removal from the Grenadier Guards. The court characterised the action as frivolous and vexatious.

Ex-Lieutenant "\Vood3 claimed £75,000 damages in his action against the members of ths Army Council who were in office^ at the time of his enforced resignation from the Grenadier Guards. Mr Woods, it will be remembered, as the result of a < court of inquiry into adverse reports by his regimental officers, was called on to ,resign his commission. Mr Woods' s- contention was that the Army Council afcted ultra vires, and he sought a declaration that it had' no -power to remove him. ,
