PRESBYTERY OF CLUTHA.
The Presbytery of_Clutha- met at Miltona on the 13th inst., wiTen -there were present the Rev. Messrs Millar (Moderator pro* tern.), S. W. Currie, Dalrymple, Fraser, Howes, Allan, Blair, Chisholm, Orr, and' Ponder (ministers), and Messrs . M'Caw^ M'Hattie, Russell, Parlane, Cawiey, and Parker (elders). A commission from Popotunoa Kirk Session in favour of Mr John Clark, in pkosof Mr James Taylor^was laid on the tableland sustained. Mr James Reid and the Rev. J. Kilpatrick being present, it was agreed fco associate them with the Presbytery. Tho Rev. Mr Dalrymple reported re Glenomam that Mr George Hunt had beea appointed home missionary, and had entered on his work. The Rev. Mr Allan reported re Beaumont that Mr .Stephen Walters had been appointed homo missionary, and had entered on his work. On the motion of the Rev. Mr Blair, ife wa^s agreed that the Presbytery meet on Wednwday instead of Friday. On the motion of the Rev. Mr Fraaer, seconded by the Rev. Mr Ponder, it was agreed that the Presbytery express- its approval of the Declaratory Act anent the election of representatives to the Assembly. It ws? agreed to fix next Presbytery for the election of representatives to the Assembly. It was agreed to take up the consideration of the Beneficiary Funds Regulations, when the Rev. Mr Blair, as convenex <xf tho comtmifctee appointed to examine the sam«. gave in a detailed report. A number of" minor amendments were considered and: a-greed to. The new church fire insurance sehean^ was considered, when the Rev. Mr Frasecmov<2d that the Presbytery approve of the scheme iesued by the committee, ofi Assembly, commend it to the favourable consideration of members within, tfrel bounds, and trusts that a liberal response^ will be made to the guarantee- fund", and} that ministers be asked to bring 1 the mattext before their congregations.— Seconded by}Mr Russell, and aßrreed to. The Rev. Mr Miller laid on tii&- table th* minutes of the Foreign Miesfon Cbmanifcteev and read several extracts-.
