DUNEDIN D.L.F. LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB.
Motio: "Union is Strength." The usual meeting of the. above club was held en Tuesday evening, June 15, Harry pieaiding o\er a meeting of 19. The evening was devoted to a discus=i-cn of the state of the club. Harry moved — " That this club disband owing 1,0 there not being si;ffue/U inducement to worki is njerpHers to d9vote their time to the club." The motion being duly seconded, some heated arguments were put forward on both sides. Areta, Harry, Texa3 Jack. Kai Ora, and Indian Chief spoke on the subject. The motion being put to the meeting, it was thrown out, five voting in favour of it and 11 against it. It was moved and carried 1 that • the committee resign their seats in a body, and that «> general election be held on the' last Tuesday of the month. The subject chosen for next evening is, "Should Military Training ia New Zealand be Compulsory?"

— In commenting on the smallness of the. offertories at his church, the vicar of St. EtheldTeda's, Fulham, states that the majority of those- who attend his church do not give on an average a penssp a Sunday.
