GREEN ISLAND CLUB.

xne annual report and balance sheet for the laet season has the following : —The finances of the club are on a very sound basis As indicated in the previous annual report, the mm of £25 was paid off on the mortgage, leaving now only £50 to pay off. In order to meet this liability it was agreed to hold a carniml, opening on June 30 The work in connection with the carnival is now in~ full swing. Thecommittee suggests that if the carnival proves to be the financial success anticipated after paying off the mortgage, steps should be taKen immediately to consider advisability of putting up a new pavilion before the opening of the incoming season. Your committee is of opinion that the club adopted a wise course in deciding to enter for championship honours. These contests were keen and well contested and some very fine exhibitions of bowling' were given. The club ie to be congratulated on its success in this competition, and although not successful in securing first honours, it was runner-up in its section, only being beaten by the Taieri Club, which eventually secured the coveted prize. In the interclub matches the club wa3 not quite so successful, its record beingmatches played, 13; won, 8; lost, 5. In the- Wednesday competitions the club was very successful, and had the satisfaction of sharing premier honoui-3 with the Caledonian Club. _ The representatives of the club at the different tournaments acquitted themselves honourably. The club's competitions provided some excellent play, and although the matches were very keenly contested the players never forgot that tho primary object of bowling is, and- always should be, to promote good fellowship. In the rink competitions, the Rev. J. Ki'lpatrick- and Messrs F. Wright, W. Johnston 4 W. M'Donald (s) succeeded in securing first honours, Mr A. Young's rink being runners-up. The Colts' Championship matches were well fought out, and brought out many promising players.
