NEW ZEALAND CRICKET COUNCIL.
AFRICAN AND AUSTRALIAN TEAMS.
CHRISTCHURCH, June 18. At the meeting of the New Zealand Ciicket Council Managing Committee yesterday the hon. secretary stated that" he had written to the South African Cricket Association inviting the South African team which is to visit Australia in 19101911 to play a series of matches in New Zealand, a.nd he had received a re-ply from Mr J. D. Gifford, secretary of the •South African Cricket Association, stating that he was instructed to thank the "^" ew . Zealand GVLcket Council for its invitation to visit New Zealand, which his association very much appreciated, but nothing definite had been arranged between the association and the Australian Board of Control with reference to the visit of the South African team to Australia, the matter having been left over for discussion at the triangular conference which is to be held at Lord's this summer. The South African Cricket Association would therefore be very glad if the council will agree to let its invitation sta.nd over until after the conference, when ifc -will be very glad to enter into negotiations with the council for a visit of the South African team to New Zealand.
The secretary of the Australian Board of Control wrote in connection with the visit of a Second Eleven of Australian players fo New Zealand next season. He .stated fhat it would be possible to arrange for a visit of a Second Eleven of Australians to New Zealand next- season if a date could be agreed upon which would enable the team to return home by the beginning of JJecember.— ;Tt was resolved that the council ask the Board of Control whether it would be possible for the pro-
posed visit to start about the beginning of -December, the men returning to Australia about the second week in January. It was also decided that affiliated associations be communicated -with and: asked if they would assist to finance the tour of an Australian team to New Zealand next tisasooi on similar lines to those on which the tour of the late Marylebone cricket team was carried out.
