The Speaker, a* everyone knows, i*. supposed to have control' .vliilc Parliament is m .'ession. but the new Minister of Public Works wanted in:itt-er> arranged jn h's own way. The iuwMp leached a oilminatniir point when th-e .Spe-iker found l-liat the Minister of Public Works had turned Mr Wilford. the new Chairman of Comjnittee.=. out of the ioom allocated to h'<m. Thereupon tl-e Speaker at once a=serte<! hi^ authoritw and ordeied the Public Works art i 1 - ?. us out of the building. The resolution authorising the Speaker to have change of the build Lug was passed on September 11, 1882. on the motion of Major Alkhv-on. itrrl road as fo'low.«: — "Re solved, thai the Government shall have the custody of the Paiiii!V..ent Building ond be responsible for all ovpendilure thereon durinsr the rec-es?. and that on the meeting of the General Ap-semblv the charge be taken o\ci and expen/li'ure conliolled by the Speakeis and committees appointed for U:e purpose."
