BREACHES AT TIMARU AN-D OAMARU. TIMARU, June 17. Mr Austen, licensee of the Hibernian Hotel, was fined £5 to-day for sellins; liquor, and five men were fined £1 each for drinking, after hour.-. The defence offered was that the liquor was bought and served and drunk before closing time, and that the men had business in the hotel. The licensee was laid up, and the license was not endoi-ced. OAMARU, June 17. Mr Hutchison, S.M., fined Walter Thurlow, licensee of a billiard saloon, £20 and costs on a charge of illegally selling liquor. Thurlow, when pleading, denied the allegation. The Magistrate, refeiring to this and other cases, said it was noticeable that the sale of liquor was mainly to mere lads and boys.
