ANOTHER WIX FOR AR'XST. WANUANUI, .Tune 22. The race for the scullinjf championship of tho world was decided fa-day in perfect '.r.ith"i». The stan, took place at 2.10 p.m. Webb won the toss, and rowed inside. He kept the lead for the first mile, wnich he cut out in a little over smin. JNo official time was taken. Arnst soon reversed tKe position, and put a length between himself and VVebb. who was steering- rather badly. Arnst kept outdistancing tho challenger. leading by four lengths. Webb made s^njious efforts to reduce the distance, and at two miles, which were cvi out in 10m in 52soe, he crept up to within a length, and kept steadily gaining on Arnst, who, however, got away several lengths. Webb again reduced Arnst's lead, and in the last quarter of a mile cam© within a couple of lengths, amidst great shouts from his supporters. It was a desperate struggle at the finish, but ArnsL maintained his lead and won by three lengths. Time, 18min 4 3-ssec.
