Mr Hyde them touched on the good work that had been carried out by the Poultry Department- during the past 1j years. For five yeairs the department had had to work under ma.ny extreme <wfuoulties, but he could safely say that tney had been able to accomplish more in respect to tihe poultry industry by putting it on a sound and paying basis than had been done during the 50 preceding yea-" They had been able to prove beyond doubt that poultry-farming, if canned out on proper lines, could be made a very remunerative business. Though he was leHriiv from his present position he did not intend to give up his connection with the poultry industry, as he, intended to start .on his own account. He imparted much valuable information regarding the breeding of poultry not only for fancy, purposes, but for general utility, and pointed out that notwithstanding the disparaging ra™»J* that had bsen made in reference, to the Sty classes, the utility bird had come to stay.
