THE GAELIC SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting- of the Gaelic Society was held on the 3rd in the Oddfellows' Hall, Stuart street. The chief (Mr Dugald M'Pherson) occupied the chair, and remarked that the attendance wa s somewhat less than usual, no doubt on account of the presence in the city of the Welsh Choir, whose musical entertainment he was sure would be a treat. He. among others, had the pleasure rh© other night of welcoming thfc Welsh Choir to this part of the Dominion, and of hearing a Welsh song sung. He now wished that some of the choir were at the presemt meeting to hear the Gaelic songs that would be sung. Ho had spent soir-e 10 years of his life in South Wales, and, strange to iay one member' of the choir was acquainted with some of tKo same people in Ll-anelly whom he (the speaker) knew when lie was there. The chief also reported that Mr A. C Robertson and himself had remitted ihe money (£65-odd) which ha-d bean collected for the widow of the late Kenneth M'Donaid to the National Ba.nk of Scotland and the Provost of Stornoway, with all tho necessary provisos necessary for tho widow' 3 dus receipt thereof. — (Cheers.)
