RACING IN NEW ZEALAND
WAIKOUAITI RACING CLUB. The annual race meeting of tho Waikouaiti Racing Club, at Waikouaiti. attracted a large attendance on New Year's Day. The totalisator was worked by Mr W. F. James, and there were nine bookmakers licensed, at a fee of £8 each.. The sum of £2916 was put through the totalisator, as against £1372 at the club's meeting two years ago. Turning into the straight Vagrance moved into second place, but' Little Medallist stalled her off and won by close on a length ; Heirloom, a length and a-half away, third. Time, lmin 7sec. Lady Ranald and MUs Adair wer3 smartest to begin, and led to the straight, where the former drew out and won by close on three lengths from Optional, who jui-t beat Miss Adair for second place.
