SECONDARY SCHOOLS' SHOOTING COMPETITION.
The results of the sixth annual shooting competition among the secondary schools of the Dominion are now available. Oat [ of 21 schools eligible, 16 competed, from J \Vhangarei in the north to Invercargill in I the south. The conditions were : Teams of 10 pupils under 19 years of age; seven shots and a compulsory sigihter at 200 and 500 yards. The order for 1908 is : —
\ The highest individual scorers were Sergt. I Cowens (Rangiora) and Private Devore '• (Auckland Grammar), each with 66 out of ; a possible 70. The average of shooting ! was very good, 23 boys putting on over I 60. Whangarei is a new corps, and allow- | ance should be made for it, as it shot withi out practice and under adverse conditions. ] Each school fired at its own range between j September 1 and December 1.
