WHERE SLEEP THE DEAD.
Pray! what is lite but one short clay — A" fleeting hour, a passing night ? Before the living from their play Have time to turn, 'tis past! 'tis night 1 A cry of pain, a glcom profound. And still through all life flows apace; In the churchyard another mound — Another last, long lesting-place. Ihey sink to rest, ?.i sea. on land. In splendid vault, or pauper's grave, Uncofficcd on the ocean's strand, Or deep bsneath the tossing wave. Above them, as the years go by. The countries chas-ge from hand to hand, But restful 'ueath the turf they he Though fire and sword devast the land. The battle on the tumbling -waves With thuncl'rinsr noise and roar does shake The low foundations of their graves; But naught on earth can make them wake. And so they pleep at <=ea. on land.
