- The heaving was concluded in the Supreme Court to-day in reference to a claim, of. £501 made by Michael Cohan^ dyer, and Mrs Cohen, again6t the Cttv Council. The action, which was heard before Mr Justice Chapman and a jury of 12, was a sequel to a tiara accident at Kilbirnie on August 9. when Mrs Cohen was injured. Plaintiffs alleged that when Mre Cohen was alighting, the ca"r, without warning, was negligently moved on, and caused her to be thrown violently' on the ground. It was contended for the defence that the car was slopped lor a sufficient time \o allow persons to alight, and that Mrs Cohen did not suffer the injuries alleged. Judgment was given for the corporation with costs. NELSON, December 9. The Supreme Court session began today, before Mr Justice Cooper. ■ The judge complimented the Grand Jury oh the absence of serious local crime, there being only one Nelson case — a girl who was committed for sentence on her own confession for . j ttempted incendiarism.
