HERBERT.
December 4. — At the- time of writing tTia weather is very digy. Although in Dunedin rain fell about a week ago, and the Oamaru people enjoyed the same benefit, Herbert) did not get any. The crops are looking! well at present, but unless we -get rain' shortly the loss will be serious. The grass is beginning to fall off, and tbe big supply of milk that has been daily going to thu factory must also decrease. Post Office. — People here seem to thin*: there should be some improvement in frlu* postal department. There appears to do no good reason why the letters could noc be delivered here, as is done in our neighbouring township. At any rate, we might? have a post office in the township, without having to travel to the station or to depend on your friends to bring voui letters. School Concert. -^The school concert was held on Thursday night, and was welt patronised. Mr I. Falconer (chairman of committee) occupied the chair. The children went through thtf performance in a very pleasing manner, and were certainly a credit to the teachers, Mr James Fleming and Miss Gampbell, who must have taken great pains to bring them to such perfection. I take this opportunity of? congratulating the committee, parents, and pupils for the very pleasant gathering. Aj vote of thanks was passed to all who helpec* to bring the concert to such a successful issue.
