EARLY SETTLERS' BAZAAR.
The interior of the Early Settlers* Hall has within the past few days undergone^ a transformation process in preparation for the sale of work and bazaar, towards which object co much time, planning, and preparatory work have been devoted since th© proposal to hold it was first mooted. The .result of all this labour greets the eye of tiie visitor as he enters tbe hall. The hall is suraxnxKfed by stalls gaily decorated, but not to such aa.. extent as bo altogether hide, their obvious purpose ; in odd nocks and . corners lurk further attractions for ulterior pecuniary purposes; «nd, to add to the general gaieity of the entire proceedings, competition succeeds competition to the t'-sliyht of the audience. The show aa a whole has been planned on a gemerous Lcale, and ba6 obviously had behind it exrreznely capable organising spirits, to whom the promised success of the venture will be' a very gratifying result. The sale was officially opened on November 25 by the Mayor of the city (Mr J. M'Donald). Grouped on the platform with him were Mesdames A. Livingston (president). il'DonaJd (vice-president), Barnes, Peden, and C. J. Business was then entered upon, a o;rcu;t of the stalls affording abundant and tempting | opportunity for such. In the evening there j was a larger attendance. The musica-l i programme submitted last evening was ! "under the control of Mr J. K. Hartley, and was such as to reflect credit upon him. The list of stalls and stallholders is as follows : — Fancy Stall. — lire M'Donald, assisted by Mesdames Fergus, Stevenson, Mies Burns, Miss M'G4ashan, and others. k Plain-work StalL — Mesdames John Boss Jand Henry Guthrie and assistants.
