OTAGO DAILY TIMES MUTUAL PROVIDENT SOCIETY.
The twenty-eighth annual meeting of th» above society was held in the Witness room on Wednesday, 7th inst., the presidem; (Mr Moss) in the chair. The following i» a summary of the report: — "The sum of £108 5s was collected in. subscriptions, and "£66 19s 3d was paid out iv sick pay, retiring allowances, and. death claim. Sever? members left the society during the year, and four new ones were* elected. The total membership now stands at 85 — 81 full members aid four halfmembers. The interest from fixed deposit account amounted to £7. This represents roughly about 1 7d per member, arid) although at present it may be considered! somewhat insignificant, it does not require a great stretch of imagination to perciev^ what possibilities may, in tim». unders ordinary circumstances be.derived from this source. It is not unreasonable to loolc forward to the time when the interest from the fixed deposit account will pay a large proportion of the calls made on the sick fund. The office of president became vacant through Mr . F. Hall leavingthe Times employ, and Mr A. Moss was elected to fill the position. Mr A.- Jj Benzie was elected to " the office of vicepresident. The sum divided as a bonus this year is £45 3s lOd, which works out" at the rate of lls per full members and 5r 6d per half-member. The total amount now standing to members' credit is £194 19s 2d." — - : The following officers were elected foi the ensuing year: — QPresidentf Mr A.. J. Benzie; vice-president,,- Mr Jas. Abernethyri secretary, Mr R. T. Little; treasurer, Mt T. S. Mason jf committee— Messrs R. Ferguson, A. Moss, S. Minn, W. Button, ant* R. Page; auditors, Messrs Jos. Abornethyj' and Alex. Wilson. •
