A Noble Calling.
As Nurse Jenkins sat waiting for the up train, a portly old dame came waddling along, carrying 10 parcels., an umbrella-, two bird-cages, a gasogene, and a few reticules. She was a good soul, 'nevertheless, as Nurse Jenkins discovered when they got into conversation. "Ah!" she exclaimed. "I dunno what we'd do wi'out the likes of yew! Makes me feel quite small tew be settm 1 aside of yew!" "Gome, cornel" deprecated the nurse. "I'm sure that you do things as worth while every day! "No, missy,' replied the woman. "I can kill a duck or a fowl wi' anybody — that I'll admit. But when it comes tew hewman bein's, me 'art fails me!"
