Th© monthly meeting of the Land Board was commenced on the 13th. Present : The Commissioner of Crown Lands . (Mr D. Barron), and Messrs Dallas, Tough, "Livingstone, and M'Kenzie. The following business was transacted: — Todd Bros, and Co. forwarded an applicati6n from Patrick Wilkins for a grazing license over Srection 26, blcck VIII, Crooketon district. — Referred to ranger for report. A letter, was received from the Deputy Assignee in Bankruptcy, Queenstown, with reference to section 2, block XVIII, Cairnhill district, and also a letter from Michael M'Carthy, in regard to the section. — To be informed that the occupation lea 6© was still in the name of M. McCarthy, and also that any sale to A. 11. Spain could not be approved. Warden reported on the proposed opening of sections 1 to 4, 6, 10, 21, 29, and 49, block 111, Table Hill district.— As the warden reported that the sections were supposed to be auriferous, it w-as decided to offer them under pastoral lease for a term of 14 years, at upset rental of £10. Charles Mulvaney applied to be allowed to acquire aJi area on Kam - oo Hill Estate under eection 53 of "The Land Act, 1908." — Held over till completion of the survey. J. Beattie applied for another term of license over area of two acres in block I, St. Bathans district— slaughterhouse cite.— Granted. J. E. Bromley applied for a license to cut posts and strainers in Brandy Gully, Tapanui, for a term of 12 months. — Granted, fee £7 10s. Owen J. Laverty applied for a grazing license over sections 28 and 29, bl'-ck 111. Hyde town.- Yearly license granted, at rent of 5s per annum. The board was requested to authorise the Receiver of Land Revenue to deal with the sum of £3 10s, valuation for improvments on sections 16, blcck XI, Tautuku district. — Receiver to pay to revenue for rent £2 4s Bd, and cost of re-entry £1 5s 4d). j.v. Diehl, allotment 29a, Windle Settlement, was granted. The Under-Secretary for Lands wrote with reference to run No. 455, Routeburn Valley, Lake Wakatipu.— License not to be renewed; land to be reserved for ecenio purposes. Ranger O'Neill reported on section 22, block XII, Tautuku district.— Section to be reopened at capital value of 12s 6d per acre. Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by R. M. Greenslade for a, sawmill license over section 1, block II t Woodland district, and assessed the value of the timber thereon. — Granted. Royalty fixed at £2 5s per acre, payable half cash, and balance at six months. Sections 5. 6, and 9 to be reserved for future use. Applications were received from R. Crawford, P. Russell, and others for license to occupy area at Kelso. — Declined, cornmitteo having paid arrears of rent. Downie Stewart and Payne, on behalf of J. D. Ritchie, J. F. Dougla«, and Annie E. Douglas, applied for a yearly license over sections 73" block V, Moeraki district (quarry reserv.e), and 11, block V, Dunback district.— License granted. Rent £4 per annum. H.
