Burke was fined £10 and costs (£3 4s). An inquest was held on the 9th by Mr Barton, S.M., coroner, concerning the death of Edward James Ranger. Tlie finding was that "deceased met his death through a do?© of arsenic, telf-admini*;-tered." This is the first- ca?e heard locally under the new ac-t whereby a jury ' is unnecessary.
