There has been a scarcity of imported fruit during the week, the only arrivals i>eing 600 cases from Sydney and 520 cases from Melbourne and Hobart. 'The other arrivals included two cases of asparagus from Napier and five boxes of new season's tomatoes from Auckland. . The Moeraki, from Sydney, is, due to-day with an additional fruit shipment. Following are current quotations between fruitbrokers and retailers': — Oranges. — Rarotongan (none offering), 16s to 17s; mandarins '(very few offering), 12s to 15s 6d; Sydney, 8s 3d to 10s 6d; Mildura, 12s to 13s 6d i South Australian, 12s od to 14s. • Lemons. — Good inquiry. Adelaide. -12s; Mildura, 12s to 13s 6d; Seville?, 2s 6d to 3a; Sydney, 8s to 9s. Apples.— Choice Canterbury dessert. 8s 6d to 12s; cookers, 361b cases, 9s to lOs^ — 2£d to 3d per lb; Taamanian choice Stunner pippins, 12s to 14s 6d ; American, 12s 6d to 15s. Bananas.' — Ripe, 2^d to 2Jd per lb. Asparagus.— Chaoice, 7s to 10s per d^zen ; inferior, 4s 6d per dozen. Cucumbers. — Local hothouse, 13s 6d per dozen. The American apricots now on the market are a splendid sample, excellent* in quality, and good in colour. . Quotations axe T{d to 8d per lb. The warehouse price for White Rose kerosene is llgd. There is a good stook of motor spirits and naphtha now on the market. Christohurch " Morepork " bacon has adj vanced to 9£d per lb net. ! Crosse and Blackwell's anchovy paste, in > gloss jars, is quoted at 43s 6d.
