LONDON, September 18. Billington swam 440 yds at Liverpool m smin 23 4-ssec. SWIMING THE CHANNEL. LONDON, September 21. J. Wolffe made another attempt to swim the Channel, but after being 15 hours in the warter and almost access he failed within iialf a mile of Calais. He was j practically exhausted, and oxygen had to be administered sever*! times.
