' Accounts amounting to £258 5s lid were passed for payment. . THE MOTXNT BOYAL ESTATE. John D._ Ritchie, trustee in the estate of the late John Douglas (Mount Royal), wrote «=king the concurrence of the council in the dosing of certain roads through the property. Mi Allan waited on the board on behalf of the trustees, and Mr William Argue (the owner of a small property adjoining the estate) and William Souter (who also is' the owner of a property concerned) also appeared in their own interests. The Chairman said that only a month ago, accompanied by the inspector and Cr M'Gill, he had visited the property, and had formed a very fair idea of the. scheme. Mr Allan said that the roads it was proposed to olose up were practically of no use at aIL Messrs Argue and Souter both agreed that certain of -the roads were entirely useless. It was- decided, without discussion, that the letter be received, and the matter be left in the hands of the chairman and the member for the riding, with full power to act. GENEKAIi. The Chairman and Cr Charlton reported that,, acting under instructions from the council, they had waited on Dr Truby King in regard. to Russet's road, and he met them very fairly, ' and promised to metal the road and carry out repairs. It was resolved that two trucks of screenings be obtained for the footpath at the Seacliff Scihool. It was moved by Cr Poote, seconded by Oi Kilp&triek, and carried unanimously— "That the clerk be instructed to forward to Mr Hosking estimates received from Messrs Oxuickshflnk and Couston of damage done to Port Chalmers-Blueskiri road by the cartage, of metal by the contractors for the new dock, and ask for advice 3 in the matter."
