DUNEDIN SPORTS CLUB.

The annual meeting of members of the Dunedin Sports Club was held in the club rooms on Monday night, i The president (Dr Stanley Batchelor) occupied the chair. Apologies were received from several members unable. to attend. The annual report, • of whioh the following ie the substance, . was taken as read : — The altering of the name of the club from "Dunedin Cycling Club" to "Dunedin Sports -Club" -had been meet beneficial. Thirty new members were elected during the year, and 11 ware to come forward for election that evening. The membership of ■the club was 87, of whom 66 were yearly members, six were half-yearly members, eight university members, two country members, and six life members. The finances of the clubs were satisfactory, and showed ft muoh improved position on fait year's balance sheet. Billiard receipts showed an increase of £60 14s 6d, and subscriptions an increase of £12 2s. Twenty pound had. been paid off loan, leading JEIO and. interest still owing. By sale of cigarettes a profit of £2 10s was made. After allowing a depreciation of £10 on furniture, a surplus bailanoe of £136 Is. together with a- cash balance of £8 9s 7d, was shown in the balance sheet. The expenditure for the year amounted to £228 12s sd. The rent paid for the club's present premises amounted to £80 18s 4d, this being only for 11 months of th© year; £13 los was paid to the late landlord, making a toai ot £94 13s 4d, being about £32 more than last year. Non-recurring expenses amounted to about £55. Th© new rules to be submitted followed in a. manner the rules of the Pioneer Club (Christchurcii), Auckland Sports Club (Auckland), and Sydney Sports Club (Sydney). The objects of these clubs were to foster sports in every way, to create good fellowship, both a 9 regards residential and visiting members, and to provide suitable rooms as a club house for their convenience. During the year several billiard tournaments were held. To the yachting members the club was indebted for several week-end excursions down the harbour, Ho which club members had always been mad© welcome. Crvbbage and euchre tournaments had also been held, and drives and other outings had been successfully carried out. Among the members who left Dunedin during the year were Messrs J O. Hopcraft (deputy-captain), G. Lyttelton, W. Bell, A. A. Adams, D. it'Pheraon, W. Keon, and J. J. C. Malfroy. In conclusion, the committee was pleased to be able to hand over the club to the new committee in a better condition than it was when it began its term of office. It asked members to help the incoming committee to still further the club's prosperity by taking a keen interest in its affairs, and by trying to secure suitable new members. The Chairman pointed with satisfaction to lite increase of membership, which woukl no doubt continue, probably necessitating the hiring of larger dub rooms, and providing a second billiard table. The rules to be aubtndfcted would make their club correspond with other kindred clubs in the Dominion and Sydney. He referred "to the good work done by the committee and their hon. secretary. — (Applause.) He moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet. This was seconded by Mr A. New rules, based on those found to work satisfactorily by the Pioneer Ohib {Christchurch), and the Auckland and' Sydney Sports Clubs, were read seriatim by the hon. secretary (Mr E. A. Falek). A few trifling alterations were made, and the rule relating to the terms on which games of billiards could be played was referred to a committee.
