We received some nice consignments of bananas, oranges, and cocoamits from the Islands ; also a fine line of Sydney fruit and some choice local apples. Eggs have been arriving freely. Poultry in fair supply, our firm receiving the bulk of the consignments coming to this market. Potatoes hang fire, and sales are slow. Pigs are wanted, and high prices are available. Bmtter and cheese in great demand. Onions in short supply. Chaff, wheat, and oats offering freely, and sales are slow. Figures obtained from the Customs o<Ticps show that the amount of Customs duty levied during the past month was £57,080 10s, as against £47,305 13s 7d for the corresponding period last year. Boer duty levied last . month was' £2473 12s Id, the revenue bbtained from this source for August, 1907, being £2383 19s lid.
