WELLINGTON, August 22. The chief attraction this week has been the pantomime "Humpty-Dvimpty," which, is drawing crowded houses. The oldest of as are never too old for pantomime. On Tuesday evening I noticed a de*T, white-haired old man, supported by two sticks, and a bevy of tiny, fair-haired grand-children. The latter amused those near by w .ith their rippling laughter and quaint childish remarks. The scenery is really magnificent and the colouring most- effective. -"The Hall of a Thousand •Lights" - s even more pleasing than the " Swing Song" in "Mother Goose." Apart from the actual faiTy tale there are numerous clever turns, on& especially being a tip-toe dance by a wee mite a few summers old. The Misses Kennedy have returned from an 18 months' visit to England. An engagement announced 1 this week 'is that of Miss Louisson. daughter of the Hon. C. Louisson (Christchurch), to Mr Hugh Nathan, eldest son of Mr Walter Nathan:. Miss N. Marchant left on a visit to Sydney last Friday. Miss Edith Bendall is visiting her sister, Mrs Cora ford (Napier). Mtb Holmes, who has been visiting her son (MV Matthew Holmes), has returned to the country. Mr and Mrs Charles Johnstone and "Miss Johnston© have returned from their visit to Auckland. Mr a-nd Mrs Elliott are leaving next week for Australia, where they will stay some months. Miss 'Hassell (Timaru) is <m a visit to Wellington.
