'A meeting of delegates from the Christchurch football clubs was held last evening to"- consider proposals for improving the game of Rugby as at present played in New Zealand: The meeting- was the outcome' of an informal meeting held last month, "when a large number of footballers expressed strong dissatisfaction, with the present game, and appointed a committee to circulariss* the club with the object of discussing the proposals in a constitutional maauier. There was an attendance of about 30 delegates. f Mr E. T. Harper, a member of the committee, reported fttat several meeting had been, held, and suggestions for the alteration of the jpame had been drafted. The Chairman expressed the hope that, although the Canterbury Rugby Union had keen snubbed by the New Zealand. Union, the -weight of opinion of the clubs m Christchurch would have a good effect. Several delegates said they had been instructed not to bind their dubs. The Question was raised, as to wHether these delegates Should retire, but no action was - The- following recommendations of the committee were adopted:— " Jhat a potted- goal' should count three points, and all other goals two points." " That lane-outs should be abolished. "That when the ball goes out of touch 4, scrum shall be formed 10 yards out." STh&t when a kicker is taking his kick from • mark, penalty, force down, kickoff, or try the opposite side shall not be allowed to charge or in any way interfere ■with the kicker." ' *Tha-i all' players outside the scrum, must fcaep behind their back row of forwards .w&n the ball is being scrummaged. .^Thafc following a force down the side forced must kick out from where the ball rtroesed the goal line, the attacking side £ stand 10 yards from the goal line.
