SYDNEY, August 23. ' Twenty thousand spectators witnessed the ' British team's last match • against New South Wales. In the first half the visitors did better than the local players in scrums and line work, but the excellent tackling ' of New South Wales prevented the British team scoring. Gavin got over for the local team, but Kenna failed to add the major, points. During a scrum some disagreeable tactics were witnessed. On both sides hooting and! punching were glaringly visible, and ended I in a prominent player on each side haVingi I a stand-up spar for a few seconds. > j In the second half the visitors did some ! fine dribbling work, carrying play in this manner to the New South Wales line. Gibbs scored rather a tame try, and he; failed to add the extra^points, and tha 6cores were level. Off-3ide play I>y Dibble in his own twenty-five gave New South Wales the chance of winning the match. and Kenna secured a- goal. Ponfcy Jones almost levelled matters up again with the run of the day, but New Souths Wales kept their opponents off until the VhistK sounded,' the game ending: New South Wales 6 points. " Britain 3 points. The game was punotuated by drenching torrents of rain.
