OAM ARU NEWS NOTES.

Tlie funeral of the late Mr John Muir, which took place at Oania.ru on the 18th, was (says our correspondent) the largest seen there for a considerable time. The other stock anotioneers of Oaniaru were the pall-bearer 3, and Messrs Dalgety and Co. were represented by Messrs Leth-•bi-idge and Bowler (of the Dunedm office). Duoroz (Gore), Morris (Invercsurgill), and Uiokman (Waimate), as well as by the whole of the local staff. The cortege included many members of the Masonio fraternity, as well as representatives of ail the principal town firms and the principal farmers of the dista-ict. Deceased was exceedingly popular, and there were general expressions of regret at his early demise.
