Notes from Cromwell. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

CROMWELL, August 21. - A considerable amount of rain has iallenl during the week, and the river "is still a'bou6 the same level. It was feared at one time that a biff flood was likely, but fortunately it was snowing on the high country, and froEt set in again last night, so -there ia every prospect of a low river for some time -to come. There was considerable excitement here uhis afternoon over the return of the Hartley and Ttiley dredge.
