MORNINGTON SCHOOL INQUIRY.

HEAD TEACHER EXONERATED

MELHOP DISMISSED. At the Otago Education Board meeting on the 20th ins f . the matter of the complaints recently made anent the control amd management of Mornington Public School, and the inquiry into such complaints subsequently conducted by the full board, was brought before the board for its final deoision. The Chairman asked whether the matter be taken in open. board or in committee. The members . decided for the latter, and a brief disoussion was taken in camera. On resuming in open board. The Chairman moved the following re* solution: — '"The board having held an inquiry into complaints as to the control and management of the Morningron School made by certain parents of children connected with the school, and having heard the parents, the committee, and the head teacher, finds that the complaints were occasioned by the misconduct of a male teacher on the staff, who has been dealt with in the court. The board further finds that the head master instantly suspended the teacher when the matter was brought under his notice, and exonerated him from all blame oonnected with the occurrence, and tho board recognises that the control and management of the 6ohool maintain the high standard of efficiency which the school has ever borne under Mr Davidson." Mr Frascr seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously and without comment. Mr Mitchell then moved, and Mr M'Kerrow seconded — "That Frank George Melhop be dismissed from his oosition as a teacher in the service of the. board, and that the facts he placed before the Ministe* for Education." This motion v also was unanimously carried, without "" comment.
