CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS.
CHRISTCHURCH, August 21. The recent inquiries fofc wheat have given the market a firmer tone. The demand was from North Island millers, whose stocks were running out. Very few growers were willing to sell, and most of the lots that have changed hands were 6moll. For pearl and Tuscan alone, or with part 4s, sA, country etations, has been -paid, but for Hunters alone not more than 3s lOd would be offered. Oate are still dull of sale, and chaff is .•Weaker. In consequence of no new Australian coming to hand, there has been a little inquiry " for table potatoes, but further consignments from the south for Auckland will again fill up the northern market. There is a" brick demand for Early Rose and Beauty of Lebron seed potato^, which appear to be Cheese is in consequence of the demand from Sydney. •
