At the last meeting •of the Hospital Traefciees Mr Peter Miller, who for -many years acted 13 the capacity of chairman of that body, was presented with a handsomely illuminated and framed^ address -tn. recognition of his long service- to the Hospital. The text of the address was : TTo Peter Miller, Esq. The undersigned trustees wish to place on record their high appreciation of tfcs very able, energetic, and . conscientious .manner m which you for 21 years— l 9 years of whioh you acted, as. chairman — have carried out your duties as a trustee of the Dunedin Hospital, and as some slight recognition do herewith^ appoint you a life governor of the institution. . Then followed the signatures. Mr Solomon {the chairman) said they* asked Mr Miller to accept this little gift at their hands. When Mr Miller had retired from the Board of Trustees it was. agreed that the least that could be done m recognition of. his servioes to the Hospital was to treat him as other benefactors had been treated — namely, that he should he appointed a life governor ; but as his efforts had far exceeded those to whom a similarcompliment had- been paid the trustees., felt something more should be done. They "therefore made up their minds that at testimonial should be prepared and signed* and they now offered him this. Mr Brown expressed his high appreciation of the services rendered the Hospital, by Mr Miller. Mr Mackenzie said he hoped that MrMiller might come among them again end give them the benefit of his counsel anti tdvice. The Mayor and Mr Tapper endorsed «2t that had been said. Mr .
