An Indian Mutiny veteran named ,Dems Kennedy, aged 86, died at Rozelle, Sydney, on April 4. He served throughout the mutiny, and belonged to the Bengal Infantry. During the great campaign he had his right eye shot out and his right arm blown off. He had been a nensiorier since 1853. The old subject of dirty bank notes was again under consideration by the council of tbe Wellington Chamber of Commerce recently. The New Plymouth Chamber wrote protesting against the banks_ issuing such notes, and the council decided to again approach the Department of Public Health on the matter. China's, postal service (says s United States Consular report) shows a rapid development since it was established 10 years ago." There are now over 2000 post offices m the country, and during the past year the articles handled increased fxon» 76,000,000 to 113,000,000.
