LONDON, April 16. Mt Churchill, speaking at Manchester, said he was convinced that' Freetrade ■would enable the Government to find money for social reforms, including a reasonable and prudent scheme for oldage pensions. This year's surplus would amcrjnt to £4,750,000, and the increase m taxation every year amounted to nearly £2,000,000. In future, without injury to credit or idding to the taxation, it would be possible to obtain £10,000,000 or £12,000,000 a year for the useful purposes of social reform.
