VOLUNTARY SUBDIVISION.

A SEASIDE ESTATE. HASTINGS, March 11. j A petition praying that the Government set aside land at Waimarama is largely signed, but a new view of the matter comes up owing to Mr G. P. Donnelly interviewing the Minister of Lands and the Native Minister, and impressing on the latter the desirableness of granting authority for the survey of the Native portion of the block to proceed, as Mrs Donnelly and her brother have decided to subdivide 96 acres fronting the coast for the purpose of establishing a seaside and setting aside portion as a reserve for the benefit of the public, and to offer the balance in township sections for sale or lease- on terms within the reach of all classes. The^ balance of the Donnelly's Waimarama Estate would then be subdivided into blocks of from 50 to 300 acres for sale or lease. This, with the 10,000 acres acquired by the Government, would increase the land availeble for closer settlement to 17,000 acres. The Ministers promised the eurvey without delay, and the Crown land will be open for selection at an early date.
